First Term Call

When to complete this step: Six to eight weeks into your first term with an employer.

Interns participate in a First Term Call six to eight weeks into the first work term with a new employer. The Internship Coordinator will arrange separate phone calls with the supervisor and the intern, lasting approximately 15 minutes each. This is an introduction and check-in call. There is no preparation needed; it is a time to clarify expectations and discuss any questions or concerns.

Scheduling a First Term Call

The Internship Coordinator will email interns when appointments are posted on the Career Centre’s online system, and interns will be asked to book one of the available appointments for a time that both the intern and supervisor are available.

Last Term Call

When to complete this step: Last month of the final work term in your internship.

Interns on their final work term will complete a Last Term Call. The Internship Coordinator will arrange separate phone calls with the supervisor and the intern, lasting approximately 15 minutes each. The discussion will focus on the intern's performance and the supervisor’s satisfaction, and identify major lessons and strategies for building on that learning upon returning to campus.
