Hiring an intern is easy and our team is available to assist you each step of the way. We'll coordinate the hiring process for you from free online job postings and application collection to interview scheduling and job offers.

The current online registration and job posting system will be re-launched using a new software product as of Feb. 4th, 2019.
Please note the following important dates:

  • Jan. 31st, 2019 - Last day to collect applications and/or register for recruitment activities on York University’s online registration and job posting system.
  • Feb. 1st – Feb. 3rd, 2019 - Dark period, no online postings will be added during this period.
  • Feb. 4th, 2019 - Experience York LIVE date! All employers with active contact information will have access to Experience York. Watch your inbox for details regarding new login procedures.

Internship Job Posting Requirements

Before posting an internship position, please ensure your job meets the following criteria:

  • Full time (at least 35 hours per week)
  • Paid (the average recommended salary for an intern is $30,000 to $40,000 per year)
  • Length of contract is at least 4 consecutive months and no more than 16 months
  • Start date aligns with the Recruitment Timelines (i.e. positions begin at the start of May, September or January)
  • Position utilizes the knowledge, skills and abilities students gained in their program of study and provides an opportunity for further development and learning

Co-operative Education Tax Credit

Employers who hire students through our Internship Program may be eligible for an Ontario Co-operative Education Tax Credit, a refundable tax credit equal to 25-30% of eligible expenditures (up to $3000 for each qualifying work period).

How to Post an Internship Job

Internship positions are posted on the Career Centre's job posting system, which internship students have exclusive access to.

If you are a new user, you will need to sign up for an account:

  1. Click on "Register And Post a Job" (this will allow you to create an account and post your first job, simultaneously)
  2. Fill in the required "Organization" and "Contact" information, then click "Next"
  3. Complete the Job Posting form including the following information and click "Submit":
    1. Answer "yes" for "Is this a York Internship Program Job"
    2. Under Position Type select (York Internship Program)

We will approve your registration and job posting within two business days. Once your account registration has been approved, you will receive an email with your username and password, which will allow you to log in, post additional jobs, view applications and batch resumés.

If you already have an account on the system:

  • Login with your username and password
  • Once logged in, go to the "Job Postings" section and click on the "Add New" button
  • Fill in the required information on the job posting including the following:
    • Answer "yes" for "Is this a York Internship Program Job"
    • Under Position Type select York Internship Program

Collecting Applications

The Career Centre's job posting system allows you to choose your application collection method. You can choose to have students apply through your own applicant tracking system (provide the URL) or through the Career Centre's job posting system. On the Career Centre's system, you can choose to receive each application when it is submitted or have all applications collected on the system and sent to you as a batch PDF when the posting expires.
